Chippenham and Royal Wootton Bassett Neighbourhood Policing Teams joined forces with Wiltshire Trading Standards to carry out checks on business owners operating in the Corsham, Calne, and Chippenham areas.
Officers checked traders’ licences, insurance, and other documentation to ensure compliance.
Advice was provided to several traders regarding compliance requirements and two individuals were issued fixed penalty notices for having no insurance.
Two cold callers were also intercepted.
Across the operation, 16 stops were made, and properties where work was taking place were visited.
One potential victim, targeted by scammers, described the intervention as “timely” and expressed their gratitude.
Unfortunately, one person fell victim to multiple scams which resulted in them losing several thousand pounds.
Safeguarding measures have now been put in place to support them.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Wiltshire Police and Trading Standards remain committed to protecting our communities.
“Rogue traders will not be tolerated, and proactive operations such as this will continue to ensure public safety and consumer protection.”
