Hundreds of players are taking on the brutal games but only one can be crowned the winner

Hundreds of players are participating in a massive reality TV competition, all in the hopes of winning a life-changing sum – one of the largest in TV history.

A brand new season of Squid Game: The Challenge has returned to Netflix this week (November 4) as 456 new players take on a series of brutal games in the hopes of being crowned the winner.

Based on the popular Korean phenomenon Squid Game, season 2 of the reality show will see the players compete in several games, some based on the original show and some never been seen before, as they go head to head.

The first four episodes dropped on Netflix on Tuesday, but fans will have to wait until next week, November 11, for the next four instalments.

Viewers will then have to wait for the season finale, which will not be available on Netflix until Wednesday, November 19. However, as fans wait, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about the prize money the winner will take home.

How much is the prize money on Squid Game: The Challenge?

With 456 players going head-to-head across the next three weeks, only one person can be crowned the winner. As enemies hide in plain sight, players must figure out who can be trusted as they take on brutal and ruthless games.

Unlike the original phenomenon, where players face fatal consequences if they lose, there will still be devastating impacts as contestants are ousted from the games and miss out on winning the life-changing amount of money.

Players are competing for a huge $456 million, which equates to £3.47 million – making it one of the largest cash sums on a reality competition in TV history.

Back in 2023, Mai Whelan was crowned the winner. Also known as Player 287, she won the incredible prize fund, which changed her life.

Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum after she won the show, Mai revealed what she would do with her winnings, including renovating her home.

Now, she is an author and philanthropist who has her own YouTube channel, using her prize money to make a difference. According to her social media page, she is “passionate about changing the world through community & non-profits.”

However, winning the money is not an easy feat. Some of the games include the Six-Legged Pentathlon as well as Catch, Marbles, and Circle of Trust.
