Netball Australia says it has started discussions with private investors on a $10 million loan that could set up the game for a future as the country’s leading women’s sport.
Liz Ellis, chairwoman of Netball Australia, said netball games will need to return to free-to-air television once its existing broadcast deal expires in 2026, arguing reach was critical for its plans to attract 2 million players and fans by 2035. That would likely mean incumbent partner Foxtel would share the rights with a television broadcaster or lose out altogether.
