Arts organisations in Wales are being invited to apply to a £8m capital investment programme.
The Arts Sector Strategic Capital Investment Programme, announced jointly today (June 5) by Arts Council of Wales (ACW) and the Welsh Government, has been developed to provide funding that organisations can invest immediately into critical aspects of delivering arts and culture in Wales.
Examples of projects that would be eligible for funding under the programme include refurbishing, improving or providing critical maintenance to buildings and venues, contributing to feasibility studies for strategic capital projects and purchasing or upgrading equipment, as well as developing digital-based assets.
The closing date for applications to the fund is 2 July. Wales’ Culture Minister Jack Sargeant says the fund will help make sure the sector has what it needs to “continue to enrich our communities and inspire future generations”.
ACW chief executive Dafydd Rhys also welcomed the investment.
“From our regular discussions with venues and arts organisations, we know that there is a real need to invest in equipment and buildings not only to support existing activity but also to create the spaces and provide the technologies which enable individuals to develop new work,” Rhys said.
