Construction firm GRAHAM is on schedule to deliver the Candleriggs Square Build to Rent development in Glasgow – on the 3.6-acre site in the heart of the city’s popular Merchant City area. GRAHAM has released a new video capturing the progress of the project so far.
Candleriggs Square is being delivered by a joint venture between Drum Property Group and Stamford Property Investments, who agreed a deal with Legal & General Investment Management Real Assets to bring forward the scheme which opens onto Glasgow’s historic Trongate.
The joint venture celebrated a significant construction milestone in June last year, topping out at the scheme, marking a new high point of the much-anticipated regeneration.
The 346 Build to Rent apartments at Candleriggs Square will help meet tenant demand for city centre housing that is close to large employers and represents a significant step forward in the regeneration of what was formerly one of Glasgow’s most prominent gap sites.
Residents will enjoy a communal landscaped courtyard at the first-floor level, while a variety of roof terraces will provide spectacular views across the city.
The practicality of the ‘oxide glazed’ terracotta cladding is longer-lasting and easier to maintain than some other finishes, and changes colour depending on the direction of light, making the design of Candleriggs Square thoughtful and unique.
In terms of safety, the terracotta rainscreen cladding is both the respected A1 Non-Combustible and a CWCT TN75/76 Fully Tested System.
