PokePro will open in Eld Lane, taking over the space where Collector’s Cove was stationed until May this year.
The specialist store already has a customer base after trading in Colchester Body Arts in North Hill for the past seven years.
But with the piercing store moving elsewhere in the city, owners and partners Ayden Prosser and Bibi Weston have decided to set up a shop of his own.
Mr Prosser, 31, said: “We’re super excited to bring the first ever trading card games shop to Colchester and look forward to meeting everyone who loves the hobby as much as we do.

“The new trading card and collectible shop will mainly be based around Pokémon but it will include other things like One Piece, Disney Lorcana, Dragon Ball Z and Yu-gi-oh.
“Unfortunately, I am still unsure about an opening date but we’re working hard at making the shop the best it can be for the public before opening.”
The store welcomes collectors of all knowledge levels including those new to collecting.
Mr Prosser added: “We’re an independent, small (but ever growing) business with a big passion for the world of Pokémon, One Piece, and a wide range of other trading card games and collectibles.
“Whether you’re a seasoned collector, a casual fan, or just getting started, PokePro Collectibles is here to help you buy, sell, and trade with confidence.
“We pride ourselves on offering a professional, friendly service rooted in genuine enthusiasm for the community and the collectibles we love.”
This new premises will allow Ayden, who has been collecting Pokémon for the past three decades, to sell more trading card and collectible stock.
Mr Prosser said: “I got into Pokémon in the late 90s and I have been collecting for nearly the last 30 years since it started.
“I still remember buying the original packs as a child from Lingard Games in Colchester town and watching the TV series during the school holidays.
“My most expensive card is probably my mint condition base set Charizard.”
The grand opening will be announced on the business’ Facebook page.
