Disney is getting into the trading card business.

On Sept. 24, the collectibles giant Topps will roll out the Chrome Disney Trading Card Set, a first-of-its-kind collaboration uniting Disney, Pixar and the MLB under one glossy, collectible umbrella.

The release features a 200-card Chrome tech base set spotlighting fan-favorite Disney and Pixar characters, along with inserts ranging from hand-drawn sketch cards to authentic actor autographs. But the headline play is the debut of Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck in official MLB trading card form — the first time Disney icons will be suited up in Major League uniforms.

“Disney’s Mickey and Friends are showing up in exciting and surprising places we love — bringing fans together for memorable moments,” Paul Gitter, executive vice president of global brand commercialization at Disney Consumer Products, tells Variety. “The Topps Disney collaboration with Major League Baseball fuses storytelling, sports fandom and the enduring appeal of our iconic characters across all audiences.”

For collectors, the three characters will serve as anchors across divisions: Mickey covers the AL and NL West, Goofy reps the Central divisions, and Donald takes on the East. Each year, the trio will rotate through divisions, extending the chase and driving year-over-year collectibility. The 2025 release features home jerseys in the Disney Chrome set, while away uniforms will appear later this year in the Topps Chrome Update Baseball series.

Boxes range across multiple price points — Hobby Box ($420), Mega Box ($70), and Value Box ($40) — and will be available on Topps.com.

The partnership underscores the broader trend of nostalgia-driven crossovers in the collectibles market, where brands are increasingly leaning on heritage characters and cultural touchstones to energize core fans while pulling in new ones. With Disney celebrating nearly a century of animation and MLB continually seeking to expand its audience, the Topps Chrome Disney set arrives as a pitch-perfect play for both camps.
