Bath Building Society has launched its first green self-build mortgage, which is available exclusively via BuildStore.

Self-Builders who commit to including green features such as solar panels and rainwater harvesting in their plans can take advantage of the three new two-year discounted variable green self-build mortgage products.

The deals include enhanced affordability, a discount of up to 1.75%, no product fee and £1,000 cash back at the first stage mortgage advance to assist with the cost of installing the green features.

Craig Brown, chief mortgage officer at Bath Building Society, said encouraging its members to make conscious sustainable choices was part of this commitment to reducing its environmental impact and the new Green self-build products were a big step towards helping this happen.

He added: “We are pleased to extend our Self-Build range to include the new green products. The green mortgages complement our existing self-build range and align with our strategy to be a more sustainable Society.”

Self-builders interested in finding out more about the deal can do so via BuildStore which is a self-build and renovation finance specialist.

Chris Martin, head of products at BuildStore, said: “As the leading adviser in the self-build sector, we are hugely supportive of self-builders who want to self-build or renovate or convert an existing building with a focus on energy efficiency, carbon reduction and long term cost-savings.

“These new deals we have created with Bath Building Society support those values by rewarding these customers with reduced fees and a cashback, as well as enabling them to borrow more by reflecting the lower running costs of the new home in the affordability calculation.”
