esbs, or Earl Shilton Building Society, has been awarded for its self-build mortgage offering at the prestigious what Mortgage Awards.

what Mortgage Awards have been the stamp of approval which recognise and reward the very best businesses in the UK’s mortgage industry, and its 31st annual ceremony was held in London on 23rd July 2024.

Voted for by the public, esbs was awarded Best Self Build Mortgage Lender, and also highly commended in the Best Variable Rate Mortgage Lender category.

esbs stands out from the crowd with its “Individual as you” approach to mortgage applications, taking into account a variety of circumstances. The Society can consider mortgages for self-builds to cover land purchases (with planning permission), buying a property to renovate as well as barn conversions, and can support with a remortgage for a self-build project that has already started to help keep progress on track.

esbs can even consider a self-build project where planning permission has been granted and is subject to an agricultural tie clause, or a Section 106 occupancy clause. In addition, for those looking to use Modern Methods of Construction, BOPAS accredited construction can also be considered. Knowing that no two projects are alike, esbs takes every self-build mortgage application on its own merits to make sure that every single customer is treated as an individual.

Paul Tilley, Chief Executive of esbs, said:

“We are sincerely grateful to be recognised by voters of what Mortgage Awards. Having won the Money Pages award for the same category four years consecutively, it’s fantastic to have our self-build mortgage offering consistently recognised by the public. This achievement is testament to the dedication of our remarkable team and the unwavering trust of our valued customers.”
