Paddy Pimblett was rewarded healthily by Dana White after his submission win.
‘The Baddy’ put on a sensational display in front of the home crowd, as he choked rival Bobby ‘King’ Green’ to sleep in a dominant submission win.
It was one of the most entertaining finishes of the night at UFC 304, in which UFC president White had promised to double the traditional $50,000 [£39,000] bonuses to $100,000 [£78,000].
Pimblett pocketed the $100,000 ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus, but White then announced that he had doubled that to $200,000 [£156,000].
The Liverpudlian then revealed that his plan is to spend it on his two daughters.
“$100k each for the babies,” he shouted to the camera in a jubilant video.
“They both get a one-er [sic]. Thank you Uncle Dana.”
It was a great moment for the superstar elect, who ought to thank his rival Green who agreed with White on stage at the press conference to increase the bonuses.
Pimblett’s career promises to be bright and revenue-generating, and he has been fighting under a more lucrative contract in his recent bouts.
Naturally the Merseyside star will be pushed into the conversation for a shot against a top-ten ranked contender at lightweight.
The 29-year-old had already named three potential next rivals prior to his dominant win.
He said: “I’d love to fight someone like Beneil Dariush.
“He’s so high up the rankings, it’d be nice to jump up that much, but to be honest, it’d be someone like Dan Hooker I think.
“But as I say, I want to fight [Renato] Moicano, that’s who I’d love to fight.”
Despite White being impressed with Pimblett’s display, he has revealed he is unlikely to keep the increased bonuses.
He said at the post-fight press conference: “I think tonight’s show that we should not. Upping them doesn’t change anything.
“It doesn’t make anybody fight any harder. It doesn’t change anything. I’m not doing this again. Ever.
“Today was the last, the last day that I’m doing that. I’m not saying that in the future, the bonuses couldn’t get up, but I’m not gonna be at a press conference, say, ‘200, 300’.
“F***ing never again. You can thank everybody on this card for that. Nobody fought any harder.
“There was no sense of urgency. ‘Holy s**t! I want the $100K!’”
