A Guernsey politician said “a lot of money and time” were “wasted” trying to replace the tenants of a local kiosk.

Deputy Mark Helyar said he was happy there had been a “sensible outcome” after the tenants of Fermain Kiosk were granted an extra three years, but said the situation was avoidable.

Helyar said the process had cost the island money, both due to high legal costs and because the tenants had proposed a settlement which was better for the States than the one the court imposed.

The BBC has approached the States of Guernsey for a response.
