A hospice said it was facing a serious challenge after rising costs and limited funding led to a monthly £65,000 shortfall.

Recruitment has been frozen and all vacancies have been reviewed at the Mary Ann Evans Hospice in North Warwickshire in an effort to save money. The hospice has supported people with life limiting illnesses and their families for more than 30 years.

The charity says as NHS funding has not kept pace with the increases in expenditure, without urgent financial support it will be forced to reduce or stop operations within the next year.

It is calling for members of the public to support their campaign for an increase in funding.
