Cornwall, P.E.I., was awash in bright pink Sunday as more than 1,700 runners took part in the 2nd annual Just Live Fun Run for cancer research.

The event raised about $50,000 that will be matched by the Sarcoma Cancer Foundation of Canada. About $74,000 was raised in total last year after matching.

The run was started last year by Michelle Hughes, who was diagnosed in 2021 with an ultra-rare sarcoma cancer called epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, or EHE. She took up running four months after her diagnosis and cheered on the runners at Sunday’s event.

Jillian Richard came out to support the cause by running in the 5K. She said she saw that people were just doing it for fun “so I figured why not give it a try.”
