It’s been a dramatic month in the world of reality TV. From things kicking off on Married At First Sight UK to the seventh (!) season of Love is Blind landing on Netflix, it’s safe to say we are well and truly seated for the tea. One of the biggest bombshells of all has unfolded between Stephen and Monica – but how much did he actually send her after their break up?

If you’ve been watching Love is Blind (the series is dropping weekly), the chances are you were shocked to watch Monica, a 37-year-old sales executive and 34-year-old plumber Stephen’s relationship implode.

Despite aligning on everything from politics to personalities in the pods, and their engagement reveal going well, they hit a rocky patch on honeymoon, which only continued into their relationship in Washington. After Monica claimed she didn’t feel like Stephen made enough effort, and he shared his concerns over their future, Monica then discovered “disgusting” and “sexually explicit” messages from Stephen to another woman on his phone.

Stephen apologised for his behaviour, and said she was “right” to be disappointed and upset with him, before he said he made “a completely stupid mistake, while being drunk.”

When it was clear that their relationship was over, Monica then insisted Stephen used Venmo (an instant payment method) to transfer her the money he owed her. It was both iconic and extremely sassy, and fans went wild for it.

And now, Stephen has revealed exactly how much he paid her, via an Instagram Story.
“How much do you think I owed her?” he wrote in a post, alongside a poll which gave followers the chance to guess the amount.

When one follower guessed $500 (around £384), Stephen said it was “closer than most”, before sharing another slide explaining the amount was more than $200 but less than $600. He then insisted he was always going to pay Monica back, writing, “I always pay what I owe. Even if it’s the last amount in my bank account while already I’m unemployed.”

So that’s that, then.

Love is Blind is now streaming on Netflix, with the final episode airing next Wednesday 23rd October.
