Paydates can be changed if they fall on a Bank Holiday – this is when you will get your money if it is due on August 25, 2025
Whether it is a State Pension, Universal Credit or PIP, thousands of people in Scotland rely on benefits to help them get by. And for many it can be a struggle making it essential to receive your money on time.
With a seemingly never-ending rising cost of living, it means what has always been tough can be even more of a struggle just to make ends meet. Latest figures show about 24 million people in the UK are claiming some form of DWP benefits – and of these approximately 2.8 million in Scotland.
The majority of benefits, including Carer’s Allowance, Pension Credit and Personal Independence Payment (PIP) are paid every four weeks. Meanwhile it is monthly for Universal Credit and every two weeks for others such as Income Support and Jobseeker’s Allowance.
Most people will receive their benefit payments as usual in August. However there is a bank holiday that will affect some of those on one of 11 benefits.
These include:
- Universal Credit
- State pension
- Pension credit
- Child benefit
- Disability living allowance
- Personal independence payment (PIP)
- Attendance allowance
- Carer’s allowance
- Employment support allowance
- Income support
- Jobseeker’s allowance
The Summer Bank Holiday is on Monday, August 25. Those who are due to receive their money on that date should instead receive on the previous working day – Friday, August 22.
Most people are paid their benefits straight into their bank, building society or credit union account. This means they will see their balance increase three days earlier than usual.
However it is important to remember this is for just one week. This means while it might be good to get your money ahead of normal it will have to last longer until your next usual pay day. For more information on how and when state benefits are paid, visit the government’s website.
