Celtic will not play in the Champions League across the 2025/26 season.

The Hoops won the Scottish Premiership title last campaign, but Scotland’s sliding UEFA coefficient ranking meant they could not qualify automatically for the league phase.

They entered into the play-off round and were handed a very winnable tie against Kairat Almaty. Embarrassingly though, Celtic lost 3-2 on penalties after 210 minutes of dire goalless football.

So it means the Bhoys will play in the league phase of the Europa League for the first time. And fans may now be wondering what sort of prize money and revenue is on offer.

Of course, it’s nowhere near the riches of the Champions League, but there is still millions to be banked. 67 Hail Hail has provided a full 2025/26 Europa League prize money and revenue breakdown below.

2025/26 Europa League prize money & revenue breakdown

UEFA Revenue Streams % Total Prize Money
Equal share participation 27.5% – €155m
Performance-related 37.5% – €212m
Two-tiered value pillar 35% – €198m

Celtic can earn prize money and revenue from three separate UEFA pots. One is the equal share participation fee which is guaranteed for all league phase teams.

The two others are performance-related bonuses and the two-tiered value pillar, the latter essentially weighted by coefficients and the TV market pool.

Celtic’s equal share participation fee

Since Celtic are guaranteed to be playing Europa League league phase football this season, they have already banked €4.31m from UEFA.

That figure is split into a down payment of €4.14m and a balance of €170k.

Performance-related bonuses

How much Celtic take from this pot wholly depends on the club’s results across the league and knockout phases, which runs from September to May.

Per win in the league phase is worth €450k and per draw will guarantee Celtic €150k.

The Hoops will also earn cash for their final league phase position. 666 shares worth €75k each will be dished out, with more shares received the higher clubs finish.

Celtic’s share of two-tiered value pillar

The value pillar was introduced for the first time last season. €198m of revenue will be split into two streams, the European part and a non-European part.

How much Celtic can earn from the European part depends on two elements:

And Celtic’s share of the non-European part is determined by:

Right now, it’s very difficult to judge what Celtic will earn from the value pillar come the end of their campaign.

Last season in the Champions League, Celtic earned just over €13m from the two-tiered value pillar, so expect it to be less than €10m in the Europa League.
