Pension assets have fallen from their peak of 45% of total assets under management (AUM) in 2018 partly due to increasing numbers of defined benefit (DB) schemes winding down.
DB schemes are also reaching full funding and moving their liabilities and assets to insurers.
The UK investment management sector recorded 10% growth in AUM to reach a peak £10trn in 2024,
Up from £9.1trn in 2023, the growth represents strong market performance in 2024 bolstered by better economic conditions and an increasing number of assets managed from the UK on behalf of overseas investors.
