National Highways has appointed Scott Dale as its new chief financial officer.

National Highways’ CFO Scott Dale

Dale initially stepped into the role on an interim basis in March and has now been confirmed in the position, replacing predecessor Vanessa Howlison.

Dale, who also joins the National Highways Board and Executive as part of the role, brings a wealth of experience, having held senior roles at Deloitte and Accenture. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has a degree in Economics.

Nick Harris, National Highways chief executive, said: “Scott is no stranger to what the role requires having been interim CFO and a temporary Board member since March.

“He is a highly experienced finance professional, and I would like to thank him for all his hard work as our interim CFO and Board member.

“I am now looking forward to continuing our work as we build on our strong track record of delivering efficiency and improvements in National Highways.”

Sir Gareth Rhys Williams, National Highways Board chair, said: “Although I’ve only been here a short while, I’ve been impressed by Scott’s knowledge of the business and his ideas to help National Highways develop even further.

“He was selected by a panel of internal and DfT interviewers and beat a strong field of external candidates; I’m delighted he’s been appointed. Any new government is going to be looking to us to deliver our RIS commitments increasingly efficiently, I’m sure he will be a great success in the role and will play a full part on our Board.”
