Coimbatore: Investors caught a 32-year-old woman, who duped them to the tune of Rs2 crore, when she landed at the Kochi airport from UAE on Wednesday and handed her over to the Ramanathapuram police. A police officer identified the arrested person as B Mathumitha, of Sreeneha Nagar at Pannimadai. She was doing online trading. He said Mathumitha had received around Rs2 crore from various people by promising huge returns every month. But she cheated them and left for Dubai last year.“The investors came to know that she would reach Kochi airport on Wednesday. They gathered at the airport and caught her when she he stepped out of its premises. They handed her over to the Coimbatore city police,” he said. One of the victims, Mini John Pradeep, 57, of Sivaram Nagar lodged a complaint with the Ramanathapuram police, who registered a case against Mathumitha under sections 406 and 420 of Indian Penal Code. She was later produced before a judicial magistrate, who remanded her in judicial custody.She was then lodged in jail.
