It’s been 16 years since Indian restaurant chain, Dishoom first opened its doors, but the hype hasn’t died down.

People still queue daily for the delicious curries, biriyani, and, of course, the signature black daal.

And while the food is fantastic, it’s not necessarily the cheapest, with the classic Chicken Ruby priced at £18.90, without any sides or extras.

So, it’s understandable then that people are going wild after discovering the chain currently has a weekday deal that gets you a lot of food for a lot less.

Welcome to the Slice

The Slice is your weekly guide to what’s happening in London, so if you’re looking for restaurant reviews, drinks deals or just a great new exhibition to visit on a rainy Saturday in the capital, we’ve got you covered.

We’ll be in your inbox every week, bringing you expert reviews, exclusive deals and the latest events. Sign up here.

To take advantage of the offer, you’ll need to have the Deliveroo app as it’s part of Deliveroo’s ‘Family Dinneroo’ deal.

On the app, you’ll notice at the top of the Dishoom page that there’s a section saying ‘feed the family from £28’.

This deal has four different options and each one will give you enough food to feed a family of four (two adults and two children) for just £25. You can choose between Chicken Berry Britannia, Awadhi Jackfruit Biryani, Chicken Ruby or Mattar Paneer.

And what you get varies slightly between each one. For instance, if you picked one of the Biryani deals, you’d get the main rice main dish that feeds four, a side dish of the House Black Daal, some cooling raita, and a side of Chote Papad (small poppadoms and chutney).

For the Ruby Chicken or Mattar Paneer, it’s very similar as you get enough curry for four, as well as a large pot of Basmati Rice, the black daal, and the Chote Papad.

Once you’ve picked your meal, you are then given a choice of days and times to select from for the delivery.

The meal deals are only available Monday to Thursday, between 4:30 PM and 18:30 PM, and you have to pick a delivery slot. You can schedule your delivery in advance, but the timings available will vary.

With delivery, the total price should be around £28.

Is it really a good deal?

If you were to order the items individually, it would cost substantially more.

Take the Ruby Chicken deal, for instance. One portion of curry is £18.90, the daal is £11.20, rice is £5, and the poppadoms and chutney are £5.10. This brings you to a toal of £40.20.

But the deal is even better value than it seems, as you’re getting a serving for four people. Those who have ordered it have been sent two pots of curry, which alone are worth £37.80.

Over on TikTok, people revealed that you can save even more money if you manage to order the deal on a Wednesday, as there’s an additional 30% off the price that day.

What have people said about it?

Online, the deal has been hailed as ‘phenomenal’, ‘so cheap’, and ‘so good’ by Dishoom fans.

Food blogger, @annikapika_ shared a look at her order on Instagram, saying: ‘£25 for this much Dishoom?? Not an ad, I just can’t believe this is real? Girl mathhhh.’

While @end.of.the.affair proclaimed: ‘The deliveroo £25 deal is phenomenal.’

Others confessed they were ordering the deal as a way to ‘meal prep’ for one person for the week, as the food for four would go along way.

Are you a Dishoom fan?

And it’s not just Dishoom who offer similar deals, as a bunch of other restaurants are also taking part in Family Dinneroo so you’ll want to keep an eye out for what’s happening at your favourites.

So far we’ve seen similar deals at Wagamama, Pho, Pizza Express, and Bill’s.

As for how long the deal will be available for, it’s currently unclear but it’s likely only a limited-time offer, so you’ll want to take advantage of it while you can.
