Other acts on the night included a performance by Lewis Capaldi as well as McFly’s Tom Fletcher and his 11-year-old son Buzz.

The duo delivered a performance of Thread of Hope, accompanied by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, which Tom wrote.

Eurovision contestants Remember Monday, who represented the UK earlier this year at the Song Contest, also sang live on the programme.

More than £9.5million was raised by Radio 2 presenter Sara Cox for her 135-mile challenge.

The DJ took part in five marathons over five days – running, jogging and walking from Scotland through northern England, and ending in the town of Pudsey in West Yorkshire.
