Bargain hunter Jordon Cox has revealed how to find a “secret code” that will tell you when a deal is about to expire at Tesco.
Jordon appears on ITV This Morning as its resident Coupon King and regularly shares tips and tricks to help you save cash on social media.
In one of his latest videos, he explained how an item that is on Clubcard Price promotion will have a six digit number that tells you when its offer will run out.
In the video description, he said: “Have you cracked this code at Tesco? On an item with a Clubcard Price, look for a six digit number [starting] with 25.
“If you read the numbers in reverse (and blocks of two) – it’ll tell you the expiry date of the deal. Last two numbers: Day. Middle two: Month. First two: Year.
“If it’s an item you buy regularly, you can see when it expires… so you know when you’ll need to stock up! If you can avoid paying full price, you’ll save a bit of cash on your shopping trips!”
It comes as Tesco is urging shoppers to act before the end of the month before £16.5million worth of Clubcard vouchers expire. These vouchers need to be redeemed before midnight on November 30.
Tesco shoppers get one Clubcard point for every £1 spent on groceries in stores and online, or one point for every two litres of fuel you buy at a Tesco petrol station.
Additionally, every £1 spent on Tesco Mobile is worth one point, while every £4 spent on a Tesco credit card is also worth one point. You also get one point for every £1 spent using a Tesco Clubcard Pay+ debit card.
You need a minimum of 150 points to get a Clubcard voucher, which will be worth £1.50 to spend in Tesco. Currently, over 24 million UK households have a Tesco Clubcard.
Shama Wilson, Tesco Group Membership and Loyalty Director, said: “We don’t want anyone to miss out on making the most of their Tesco Clubcard Vouchers, and with some great new offers with Clubcard Rewards this really is a great time to use those vouchers up.
“The value of vouchers expiring is higher than usual this quarter, and if all the vouchers expiring were used for Tesco Tuesdays it would be enough to get 6.6million cinema tickets at Cineworld.
“If they were exchanged with PizzaExpress they could secure an amazing £49.5million of reward codes towards food, so it really is worth checking in the Tesco app to see if you have any vouchers expiring.”
