A cordon is in place after police were called to a ‘disturbance’ in North Shields.

Police and paramedics were called to the Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate at around 8.40am on Wednesday following reports of a disturbance outside a premises. The Great North Air Ambulance was also called to the incident.




A number of police officers remain at the scene, along with ambulance crews and a forensic team is also in attendance. There is a huge cordon in place in the High Flatworth area of the estate at the junction of First Avenue, with the road currently blocked.

Where has the incident happened?

The incident happened in the High Flatworth area of the estate. The road is currently blocked at the junction with First Avenue.

What have police said?

Northumbria Police said they received reports of a disturbance outside a premises at around 8.40am.

A spokesperson said:

“Just after 8.40am this morning (Wednesday), police received a report of a disturbance outside a premises on the Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate in North Shields, North Tyneside.

Air ambulance called

The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the scene along with paramedics.

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said:

“We were called at 8.29am this morning to an incident at Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate. We dispatched a clinical team leader, two double crewed ambulances and the medical response car from Great North Air Ambulance.
