WWE Money in the Bank is all set to take place tonight (Sat., July 6, 2024) from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It begins at 5:00 pm ET with the Countdown show leading right on into the main course at 7 pm ET on Peacock in the U.S., WWE Network everywhere else, or your local cable pay-per-view provider.
Luckily for you Cagesiders, our staff of learned wrestling blowhards is here to help figure out just how the event is going to play out with predictions for each match on the card.
Let’s get to it.
WWE MONEY IN THE BANK PREDICTIONS
World Heavyweight Championship: Damian Priest (c) vs. Seth Rollins
Geno Mrosko: I think Rollins would be a better option for GUNTHER at SummerSlam, and the breakup of The Judgment Day is coming, but I don’t think this is what will cause it. In fact, I’m not so sure Liv Morgan doesn’t help out and actually bring Priest around to her side, leading to the return of Rhea Ripley and allowing that story to play out however it will. Pick: Damian Priest
Sean Rueter: Until they added the stipulation for the champ, I was going with Rollins. Not sure what’s next for him if he can’t challenge for this belt and CM Punk & Drew McIntyre are tied up with each other. But, “what’s next for me?” can be a story in itself, and given how long (and for the most part well) they’ve been teasing a Judgment Day schism, I can’t see it happening this suddenly. Pick: Damian Priest
Kyle Decker: While I could see this going either way, it feels like Priest’s run is coming to a close. He’s been fine but not great. And the match at SummerSlam against Gunther, whether they want to crown him or not, is better against Rollins than Priest. Plus the “Priest has to leave Judgment Day” stip is super intriguing. Pick: Seth Freakin’ Rollins
Claire Elizabeth: Judgment Day breakup drama has a fair amount of life left in it and I just don’t see them cutting the knot by forcing Priest out, plus a battered and ego-bruised Rollins doing a little bit of soul searching about not being allowed to challenge for the title for… (looks up when SummerSlam is) …a month sounds like it’s worth at least one promo. Pick: Damian Priest
Cain A. Knight: I think Rollins is a much better opponent for GUNTHER to face at SummerSlam. Pick: Seth Rollins
Marcus Benjamin: Seth Rollins seems like the easy pick from afar but up close and personal, it’s Damian. I think Damian’s Clash at the Castle performance earned him some goodwill, making this his match to truly solidify his reign. And the Judgment Day drama works best with him in the group, not out of it. The fact he put his spot on the line is already causing friction. I believe that tension gets tighter when Mami comes home and finds everything in disarray. Pick: Damian Priest
Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Jey Uso vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Andrade vs. Chad Gable vs. LA Knight vs. Drew McIntyre
Geno Mrosko: I can see three options here with real potential but this is Triple H’s WWE and all roads started with Jey and are probably going to end with Jey. Pick: Jey Uso
Sean Rueter: Punk (or, if I let myself get sucked in by social media fantasy booking, his wife) will cost McIntyre the case. Logan Paul’s not gonna let Knight grab it. Can’t buy Andrade or Gable being the call her for different reasons. If I squint I can see them going with Hayes, but it’s probably too soon in his build for a step that big. That makes this the easiest pick on the card — which if you follow my success rate, almost certainly means it’s wrong. Pick: Jey Uso
Kyle Decker: This feels like Jey Uso’s to win, more by process of elimination than him being the guy (though he wouldn’t be a bad pick by any means). We can almost guarantee CM Punk prevents Drew McIntyre from winning. It’s possible Logan Paul does the same for LA Knight. Gable has too much on his plate with the Wyatt Sicks. Melo is fantastic, but it feels a bit too soon. And Andrade? C’mon now. Ipso facto — Yeet. Pick: Jey Uso
Claire Elizabeth: Jey has lots of history with GUNTHER, he’s positioned well as a babyface to cash in and either fail and really sell the Ring General’s title reign, or win it, cut him off early without shame, and have a hell of a feud out of the deal. That logic works with Gable, too, but Gable is a little shit who needs more comeuppance, so…! Pick: Jey Uso
Cain A. Knight: Hayes, Gable, and Andrade have almost no chance to win. McIntyre and Knight have big rivals lurking in the shadows ready to screw them over. There’s only one wrestler left, and he’s in the midst of a significant push. Pick: Jey Uso
Marcus Benjamin: I’m going against the grain (and my own logic) here and picking the guy I want to win. Well, I always want HIM to win. Pick: Carmelo Hayes
Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Iyo Sky vs. Chelsea Green vs. Lyra Valkyria vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Naomi vs. Zoey Stark
Geno Mrosko: I’ve been burned enough times to know not to get my hopes up here but I really do think it’s high time they let Chelsea take the ball and run with it. Pick: Chelsea Green
Sean Rueter: I’ve fantasy booked several different runs with the briefcase for Green in my head (my current favorite: she cashes in on Morgan, Rhea Ripley returns, that — Daddy Dom Mysterio’s reaction to it — leads to Liv winning, kickstarting the Ripley/Morgan program and giving Chels something to “Karen” about for a long time to come). But feels more likely that WWE will use the women’s match to try and cement a new main event-er from the recent NXT grads, and SmackDown is the brand to do that on. Pick: Tiffany Stratton
Kyle Decker: I need to start by saying if I had the book, Chelsea Green would win this and spend the next couple months epically failing in trying to cash in. But I doubt Triple H picks a comedy act to win. I feel the best bet is the up and comer that they’ve shown to be very high on. Pick: Tiffany Stratton
Claire Elizabeth: Chelsea Green has been killing it and I’d love to see her turn slipping on a banana peel into a run as a more legitimate and less comedic character, I’m gonna take a chance on it. Pick: Chelsea Green
Cain A. Knight: This one seems fairly wide open, as most of these women could potentially win a world title over the next year. I guess I’ll go with Stratton since she seems to have more upside than others in the field. Pick: Tiffany Stratton
Marcus Benjamin: I like Chelsea Green here. Mostly because she’s doing incredible work but also because I can see her rocking that briefcase with Piper as her heater. She’s already an entitled brat; imagine her with that contract in-hand. Comedic gold. Pick: Chelsea Green
Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn (c) vs. Bron Breakker
Geno Mrosko: I don’t think they’ll actually do the title switch here but I’m not so sure they shouldn’t. Pick: Sami Zayn
Sean Rueter: Won’t be shocked if Zayn maintains, but given the way he’s been presented on television and the amount of media they had him doing this week, I think they’ll pull the trigger. Pick: Bron Breakker
Kyle Decker: Breakker is going to win a championship sooner than later, but I don’t think it’s tonight. I think Zayn needs to humble him slightly, in the process, making Bron even more deadlier. Pick: Sami Zayn
Claire Elizabeth: Sami’s laid it all out and he’s right— Bron hasn’t done his homework, he’s not ready, and Zayn will keep getting back up until Breakker can’t, and he’s leaving with the title. Pick: Sami Zayn
Cain A. Knight: Bron is a big dummy who probably gets himself disqualified if this was a match on Raw, but there should be a decisive fall here on a PLE card that only has five matches booked. Pick: Bron Breakker
Marcus Benjamin: It’s time. Pick: Bron Breakker.
The Bloodline vs. Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton & Kevin Owens
Geno Mrosko: I won’t be the only one to say this but this is probably where Orton turns on Rhodes and allows Solo Sikoa and his crew to take a win without it being too big a mark against the WWE champion. Pick: The Bloodline
Sean Rueter: Geno and I aren’t always on the same page, but we are here. Pick: The Bloodline
Kyle Decker: Given this is going to be 3 on 4 (there’s no way Jacob Fatu doesn’t interfere), and losing a trios match to a rag tag group would be devastating to Solo’s Bloodline, the Samoan/Tongan alliance has to win here. And if they actually want to do Solo vs. Cody at SummerSlam (I’m not feeling it but it’s definitely likely), Solo’s crew has to win, and maybe he needs to pin the American Nightmare. Pick: The Bloodline
Claire Elizabeth: Bloodline wins, by hook or by crook, because after all, there’s always more islanders for Solo’s legion. Pick: The Bloodline
Cain A. Knight: The Bloodline can’t lose after adding Jacob Fatu to the group and declaring Solo Sikoa as the new Tribal Chief. Pick: The Bloodline
Marcus Benjamin: Solo Sikoa called out Roman Reigns. The Bloodline needs its momentum for that above anything else. Pick: The Bloodline
That’s how we see the card playing out.
How about you?
